Youth Vaping, Environmental Justice, and Human Rights Webinar Held June 2025

Four to five vapes are discarded every second in the United States alone. Products with lithium batteries also cause millions of dollars in fire damage each year. We held a webinar in June 2025 to examine the environmental justice and human rights consequences of electronic cigarettes and vapes. The session introduced our study on youth perspectives about the environmental harm and labor exploitation tied to vape production and disposal.

Attendees heard from our team of public health experts about how communities can take action through culturally responsive prevention messaging. The audience included parents, educators, public health professionals, environmental health  and sustainability advocates, policy makers, waste and recycling organizations, youth advocates, and community leaders.
